The Northern Illinois Wrestling Academy is open to athletes of all ages from surrounding areas that belong to a club or are in high school but looking to get additional training.
The Northern Illinois Wrestling Training Programs are structured into four training sessions throughout the year. During each training season workouts will be held 2x - 3x times each week (depending on which package you sign up for). Want to really be prepared? Sign up for a couple of our weight training sessions and transform your mind as well as your body.
In order for each athlete to have a high success rate, all practices sessions must be used by the end of each training season (Unless you are enrolled in a Full-Season Training Package in which case all practice sessions must be used by the end of that training year).
A current USA Wrestling Athlete Membership is required to participate in the Academy and Club. Memberships can be purchsed online through the USA Wrestling website [Online Membership], or by mail through the Illinois State Membership office [Download USA Wrestling Membership Form]
Pre-Season Training: Held Sept. 6 - Oct 28, 2009. In this session we put the hard work in to ensure that you have a strong conditioning and technical base to build off of during the season. This program will give you the confidence knowing that you have put the time in and have trained to go the full distance of the match and then some. You will outwork your opponent. This season will focus primarily on Folkstyle wrestling.

In-Season Training: Champions Are Born here!. Held during the school year's wrestling season, from Nov. 1 - Mar. 10, 2010. The wrestling season can get long and monotonous. This session is designed to light a fire underneath you by providing different techniques and drilling instructions to keep you mentally sharp and fresh while enhancing your skills. This season will focus on Folkstyle wrestling, as well as weight management, nutrition, match strategy, and help you peak for regionals, sectionals, and the state tournament.
Spring Training: Held March 24 - May 12, 2010. After having a successful wrestling season, you can now focus on summer wrestling. This Training session is designed to focus more on the technical skills while slightly lightening the workload. This season will focus on Folkstyle, Freestyle and Greco styles of wrestling.
Summer Training: May 16 - June 16. Keep the training going strong while you prepare and compete in Freestyle & Greco turnaments.
Full Season Training: The Full Season Training Package consists of all three Training sessions. This Full Sesaon will be held Sept. 6 - June 16.
